Would love some feedback - new trailer for television series I created / wrote

Hi guys! My name is Ren and I am an actress and screenwriter in Vancouver BC Canada - I have developed a television series and just starting to get some feedback on the trailer- I would love and appreciate your feedback and insights- especially the following questions - what do you think the show is about - what is the genre and what network would be a good home for this show? Thanks again!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVgwKGuLi0I

Tiffy Diamond

Well done, it looks like you put a lot of work into this. From the trailer I got that you are possible an alien with a message for Earth? You might want to make it a little more clear. But I thought the trailer was engaging and I could see it on FX or a Sci-Fi channel perhaps. :)

Ren Kennedy

Thanks so much for watching Tiffy! We actually have a 10 minute sizzle reel for it so it's much more clear but this was just a little taste to get people curious, and wanting to see more , which based on feedback we managed to do - again thanks for much for the feedback it's very very appreciated xo

Howard Steven Soto

It was interesting. I liked it and would love to see it when it is released. One note: the quality of the FX starting at :32 took away from the quality of the other scenes.

Ren Kennedy

Thanks very much Howard! It's something we are using as a trailer to entice producers to want to see the sizzle reel which is 10 mins and goes with the pitch - your comment on the f/x is spot on - we had 0 (read zero) budget so it was all made on a wing and a prayer so for that we are incredibly grateful but it will be amazing what we can put together with a decent budget - I'll be sure to keep you in the loop as it progresses - thanks again!

Kaminda Berugoda

I really enjoyed this trailer. It shows basically what to expect in the tv series. And some VFX are really awesome. Love to watch it when released. Good luck!!

Julian Nabunya

i loved what i saw , and to answer you, i think its genre is hor ... isn't that a zombie that young woman see and speakout that line "am not .....

Ren Kennedy

Gosh thank you so much for watching it and giving your feedback - yes it is a kind of suspense though not horror exactly more psychological thriller and I'll surely let you know as we continue the journey through the many layers of getting it on air -which we've never done before so it's both exhilarating and terrifying! Thanks again so much!

Debbie Jennings

Very intriguing and creepy. Great trailer!

Jon Pileggi

HI Ren, it grabbed me pretty good and got my attention right away! Great trailer!

Jennifer Lander

I really like it! The trailer was interesting and makes me want to watch the show :)

LB McGill

ah very good!

Elisabetta Errani Emaldi

Great trailer!

Tony Knucklez

that was awesome! makes you want to see the whole series to see where it leads, definitely something bad will happen to the shrink for sure! haha

Joseph De Cross

Great trailer. A sci-fi channel would be the best option for this psyco-thriller. Love the sound and the suspense effects.

Tom Strauch

well done trailer. please get in contact if you are looking for music for the series!!

Ren Kennedy

Wow everyone - such awesome responses - yes, indeed our only goal was to entice the watcher to want to watch more- so we're using this tiny trailer to entice potential producers to watch the sizzle reel (10 min) and listen to the pitch which I'm working on now - I so appreciate the time you took to watch it and your comments are spot on - I'll let you know how things progress as they do - thanks so much and I'll be sure to pay it forward! xo Ren

Tony Angelo

very nice i'm impressed with your work

Chuck Dudley

LOGLINE: A woman must confront her psychological issues while trying to investigate her nightmares to determine if they're real or imagined. Genre: Psychological Thriller Network: The internet. Maybe a web series like H+ Comments: Great fade in. The first shot conveys production value. Draws viewer in immediately. Then the SMASH CUT to creepy face in rain -- works. But once you get to psychologist intro line "what can I do for you?" The pace sloooows drastically. I think it's the wrong line because it feels too much like an introduction. Maybe use dialogue that has more impact that conveys your story? Maybe faster edits so each sequence doesn't last longer than 2 secs? Example beat: 1. Fade IN Karen in bed. V.O. "I've been pulled through my life by a kind of faith I never completely understood." 2.SMASH CUT: CREEPY FACE IN RAIN 3.Psychologist sits "So... tell me about these dreams..." 4.SMASH CUT: 2nd CREEPIER FACE. 5.Karen. "The screams... " 6.SMASH CUT: ACTION SEQUENCE 7.SMASH CUT: Karen strapped to hospital bed. V.O. "...they were real..." 8.SMASH CUT: CREEPY LAB 9.SMASH CUT: CREEPY SCENE 10.2nd character. "You need help, Karen!" 10.SMASH CUT: KAREN SCREAMING etc etc .

Ren Kennedy

Hey guys! More fantastic advice and feedback I'm thrilled to hear it all - more than anything I'm getting the sense that people want to see more- yes I agree the trailer could be more grabbing it was a rough thing as the sizzle reel is 10 mins long and we will have the screening for that in late February with industry people, cast, crew and media- please keep the comments coming and I wish you all the best with your projects!

James Holzrichter

As an audience member, cause I am no writer, I like the fact that not much is told from the beginning. I like thinking about what could be and what might be then seeing if I'm correct. I like the hints and suspense. Can't wait to see it!

Elisabetta Errani Emaldi

It was a pleasure for me, as your trailer is great.

Gary Craig

Very Very well done! Cut beautifully..Kudos!

Ren Kennedy

Thanks very much all of you! I will for sure let you know where all this nets out - we've got a private screening coming up and anyone who has done this process before - please contact me we are just finding our feet and could really use a mentor/guide to lend us some insight- keep the comments and feedback coming - it is deeply appreciated!

Tony Campagna

Oh yeah, definitely! I want to see what happens. Love it! ;)

Nadia Mehdi

Look great! I would definitely watch it!

Amir Givens

it looks good

Sandy Brownlee

It looks intriguing... a mystery the audience is invited to unravel. The trailer implies that the fate of the world is at stake - and that the main character is the key to that fate. I would try the SyFy network first.

Alan White

I agree it looks interesting. leaves just enough questions to gather interest.

E. Douglas Brown

very intriguing, suspenseful, leaves one wanting more;a well done trailer. This is what I've learned in life: some will tell you it work because of X number of reasons...do it your way; some will want to make changes...if they hold merit then do them; some will try to take over control...DON'T. Above everything else, if it's your dream and your passion then don't give up.

E. Douglas Brown

supposed to be....some will tell you it won't work; been editing for two weeks now and I'm burnt out

Michael Lockett

Very Intriguing. Seems perfect for SyFy. I think its about a character that doesn't know if she is crazy or an alien. Its well done. How long did it take to get an episode in the can?

Oswald Williams

Sc- Fi A spirit coming back to earth warning the people about something ?

Elisabetta Errani Emaldi

Thank you!!

Donna Mahaney Deter

She's a demon come from Hell to warn the people on Earth of their impending demise. SyFy network might be a good choice.

Diane Meyer

Ren, I agree... would be a good fit for SyFy. Great trailer! Kept my interest.

Paul Barnes

I like the trailer and it seemed interesting. It certainly made me want to see more.

Ed Vela

The production values appear good enuf, but the acting is positively moribund. If you were going for low- key, let's check for a pulse acting, then you got it, but it sent a droning tone, rather than a slow paced mood.

Ren Kennedy

Thanks George! I totally agree we worked with what we had and what we had was two days and 500 bucks and the generosity of some amazing experts here in Vancouver BC Canada- So glad it scared you - that's high praise indeed and I'll keep you in the loop as we get closer to where we're going :)

Denise Cruz-Castino

Ren I think you did such a nice job! The production looks really good, and for no budget, wow! I think the trailer is very intriguing, which is what you want for producers. But even as a viewer, you've got my attention. Good job! And good luck!

Ren Kennedy

Denise thanks so much it means the world to me that you guys are actually watching and commenting - I think my next step is to find someone to come alongside and explain the next bit to me in regards to producers, or indeed what the next step is - there is a series script completed - 10 eps that's it so many more like a mini-series or a one season series plus two books attached - I just need to understand how this process works and it would be amazing if someone would break it down for me - not looking for money just advice, guidance and insight - thanks again. 'Ren

Justin Kapr

I can see you've put a lot of effort into this. It really shows. Production value is pretty solid. I personally wouldn't be interested in watching this series. I wish you all the best though.

Chuck Dudley

Ren I don't want to discourage you from pursuing this as a network series but I think you shouldn't rule out exploring your show as a web series as well. The goal is for you to now package what you have: your pilot, trailer, production stills... and take meetings. Former Disney exec Michael Eisner has a company called Vuguru. They plan to produce upwards of 30 new web shows a year. And I think he's partnered with a Canadian company. Also some info on "shopping a pilot" http://www.absolutewrite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=229080

Jaylen Moore

Cool concept. It caught my attention. I think you have something here, and could take a stab at it. Whether it becomes a network show, or kickass web series, you have a market for a show like this. I'm curious..what did you shoot on?

Ted King

Well it piqued my interest, I wanted to see more! Maybe it's me, but I didn't get the "alien" connection that others seem to connect. However I did enjoy the effects. Very professional!

Ren Kennedy

WOW once again thanks so much for your feedback and comments - it really is invaluable - to answer a couple of questions - we shot the 10 minute sizzle reel with two locations green screen et al in two days - we estimate we could shoot a single EP in about five shooting days - Chuck really sage advice and I'll PM you with more and Jaylen it was shot on a Cannon 7D with a crane for some shots and a doohickey that can turn the camera head as it shoots to get that first establishing shot- which my director is in love with and people seem to concur that one shot establishes the level of production - again thanks all so much for the feedback - I am incredibly blessed and grateful and I WILL keep you posted as it how it all nets out 'Ren

Ren Kennedy

Keen eye Benjamin and no that's "just where it ended up" and it also so happens we're doing the screening on 2/22 and that's also "just how it ended up" life can be pretty trippy when you let fate up all in your bizness - j/k hoping to trip out some industry people at the screening :)

Ren Kennedy

It's all in the intention and I see you intend me good energy and success so that's how I take it and thank you for that - I'll keep you posted as we keep going forward - completely uncharted waters at this point - full steam ahead :)

Diane Meyer

You Go Girl! Can't wait to see it on SyFy :) it'd be far, far better and more interesting than the usual fare of mosters eating people every 10 minutes!!!

Ren Kennedy

Thanks Diane - yes it's my intention to create pyscho-spiritual SyFy minus the monsters, vampires, zombies and such - just focusing on humans - we are monster enough :)

Justin Kapr

Let me just add some more comments (hopefully positives) my opinion; which can be swept under the rug or seriously considered. The direction, screen shots, concept... it's all really, really good. Something that I would reflect on before you give your pitch is character development. Your series seems centered around your character. You're going to need to sell that character. I loved your idea. I just wish I could have seen more of your character in the clip. I know you've only got a limited amount of time in your reel, and it's hard to choose what to reveal. I want to see you succeed. I don't want to come across as a hater, cuz I'm not. It's hard for me to invest my time into watching a series if the trailer doesn't sell me the main character. Whoever you pitch it to is going to have the same concern. A lot of tv today has really amazing characters. Big Bang Theory, Two Broke Girls... A great idea, like yours, can fall through the cracks, if one doesn't consider every angle of your attack plan. I hope my comment is a little bit more useful this time around. Cheers!

Ren Kennedy

Hey Justin - I actually liked your comment the first time - I like it but I wouldn't watch it because it was really honest however this comment is also really useful so I also appreciate it - the trailer was just so we could show people what we've been up to. The sizzle reel at 10 mins shows much more the arc of what is going on and this is what will be shown at our screening on 2/22. But I really like what you said about Karen's character and how you want to know more about her which again is a good sign. The overwhelming response we have received is I don't fully understand but I've got a feeling about the show - and I'm so curious and what is going to happen which is great and we couldn't ask for more from a 1:22 minute piece of film. I'm going to work on the pitch this weekend and I'll also post this on this site and I would really love your opinion on that because the pitch is completely unknown territory and yes it's all about this character so I'll make sure we stay on her, her arc, her journey - thanks again!

Justin Kapr

Ahhhh, I see. But of course! lol It is a pilot! I myself would label this a teaser video and not a trailer. As a teaser video, your reel is actually near flawless. It's just an industry terminology thing. Call it what you will. You're headed in the right direction, and bravo to you for doing something meaningful!

Ren Kennedy

Yeah I think my director and I will sit down and re-do the trailer but the sizzle reel looks really good - and more than anything we want to spark interest and have the pitch answer most of the questions and then have an open Q&A to answer the remaining ones - then we'll see who wants to collaborate and go ahead from there - webseries- tv series or we shoot the pilot ourselves I guess we'll see :)

Julian Nabunya

@ Ren i wish you the best of Luck

Cory Wess

Horror genre is communicated in the first few seconds and continues through 30-40s. Once we see the doctor in the 3D set, possibly sci-fi; confirmed with 'are you human'? I suggest redoing the voice over, as it sounds too flat of a performance and it is easy and will greatly increase it's value. If the character is supposed to be deadpan, that's fine, but then the character's voice shouldn't be used as a voice over because it sounds like a deadpan VO artist. Also some of the animation is jerky, like the eye to the world. Finally, what this communicates it's about: The prince who left the castle, forgot who he was, and thought he was a beggar retold as an alien in human form who has lost her memory of who she is and why she is here.

Ren Kennedy

Thank you so much for this very detailed critique- I totally agree the v/o is horrific - and I love that the you were kind of brought from one genre to another and maybe another- I wanted to keep the viewer guessing - I especially like the final line of your analysis to which I would say this " are we not all princes who have left our true castle and wandered out into the seeming reality around us only to be caught up in the illusion that we are beggars- and have we now become so embroiled in the beggar's game that we are lost trying to find our way back to the castle and upon arriving there, realize of course that we are, were and always will be princes...and what if there was one little prince who realized that and started trying to lead the others back to the castle.." so yes, yes and yes :)

Michael Welsh

I just finished watching ur trailer and felt impressed with it. It did give me the same feeling as to being a horror but then it felt like it changed to more of a sci-fi thriller. Either way I believe it would work as a web series and I'd watch it. In the future if when u hold auditions whether principal, supporting, or extras, I love to audition for u.

Cory Wess

@Ren Yes we are.

Julie A Wilson

Very impressive, especially for a no-budget piece! I was gripped with the storyline. It would be an amazing story if it were about a part human/alien being with a message for earth. The more pedestrian storyline would be that it is really an uber-complex, psychologically tangled woman who is so disconnected mentally/physically, that she believes she might not be a whole human & has an extraordinary duty - ie. message. I'd love to see the alien storyline explored. In any case, I would definitely tune in! Kudos!

Ren Kennedy

Fabulous Julie! And I'm thrilled that you are already so deeply invested in how you want the story to pan out and indeed alien is part of the story-line, as is mental illness so really it's both and it's entirely up to the audience to decide which "reality" is which and I will keep you all posted as we get closer to air - thanks again so much for your kind feedback! xo

Ren Kennedy

You are awesome! And I love that you didn't read any comments before answering - and you are spot on! I'll keep you posted as we get closer to reveal/air etc but thanks again for your feedback - it's SO important and besides it's just nice to know someone has got your back!

EL Mas Pinche Way

very cool... let me know when you make another

Stanley Ejingiri

Hello Ren, i think you did a great job, i was glued to my screen from the beginning to the end of the trailer. Great work.

Erin R. Dooley

Nice job, Ren. I think it looks like it might have a home on SyFy or possibly FX? It looks like a thriller, balancing between psychological and action thriller from some of the clips. Good luck!

Ren Kennedy

Thanks so much for the feedback yes indeed SyFy seems to be where we are netting out and as we have a screening event on the 22nd of this month I'm hoping it keep others glued to the edges of their seats too! If anyone has the ability to start a little buzz around this project I would certainly appreciate that! Thanks again and I'll keep you posted how this all goes down! xo

Kim Thai

This was great! Working on a few pilots myself and always nice to see other work that inspires me. Agre with Erin 100%. Seems like a psychological thriller that'd be a good fit for SyFy or FX.

Ren Kennedy

Thanks Kim - I'll keep you posted once we figure out how to bust through from pitching to air - and hopefully you'll have some victories to share as well - I feel so supported on this site and will do my best to share tips and tricks as I figure them out myself - anything is possible!

Kim Thai

sounds great! would love to hear more.

Ren Kennedy

Hey guys just want you to know that I took all your comments and we're now working on a second two minute trailer which we are going to use to apply for some government/private funding so thanks again for your comments and I'll keep you posted as we continue stepping forward on this grand adventure!

Elisabetta Errani Emaldi

Good Thanks!!

Ren Kennedy

Hey William - that's the highest praise we could possibly receive - that we piqued your curiosity and you want to see more- we'll keep you posted as this all unfolds!

Ren Kennedy

Well tomorrow evening is the official screening event for Little Miss Mania - please send some grounding wonderful pink bubbles of light and love my way - this is the culmination of so many things and moments I can hardly believe it's true- it's amazing what you can create when you throw out the words impossible and crazy - I'll keep you posted as we journey on - Ren

Heather Hale

Good luck, Ren! ;-)

Ren Kennedy

So here is the update! We've actually applied for a grant for 100K to make our show into a web-series, at least to begin with but we need your help!! So if you could kindly go to the following link and post a comment up on youtube we're trying to show the foundation that we have some traction and I'll keep you posted but all things going according to plan the web-series should be a GO! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JiK3j6Nre0

Ren Kennedy

Thanks so much William! I am thrilled to keep working toward this goal - and hopefully I'll have good news to announce in the next few months - again thank you!

Laura Koons

Got it! Looking forward to seeing the series... best of luck to you!

Ren Kennedy

Thanks so much yes we are just starting the BUZZ and hoping it will take us all the way to air - the 100K would go a long way to getting the first steps done and then Universe willing we get to continue until we have started a world-wide conversation about what we don't know and where mental illness and spiritual epiphany may intersect- so please direct people to our trailer and I'll let you know as it all happens -- thanks for the love!!

Ren Kennedy

Hey guys! if you are following this thread I put out a HUGE goal today to hit 1000 views on youtube by midnight tonight so anything you can do to help is SO appreciated - I'll let you know how it goes!!

Ren Kennedy

We updated the trailer but we need to keep it in the same conversation because we are being monitored for funding so please watch the NEW trailer HERE and leave comments on youtube or here- thanks so much - here we go! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JiK3j6Nre0

Drago Lazetich

Ren, I like the updated trailer much better. I'm glad that you did the dialogue from the Dr. "are you human "as a voiceover . It works better because on that line the doctor didn't seem believable when he said it on the first trailer.... keep up the good work.

Ren Kennedy

Thank you so much! Yes we've gotten much better reaction to the new trailer and are getting toward our first 1000 views on youtube - I'll keep you posted as we continue with our funding application and other streams of income as we press forward with this production! Thanks again so much for the support xo

Mark Ratering

O.K. I want to see more. You shoot in Red?

Diane Knaus

That was very interesting, would like to see more. congratulations.

Beka I Am

could be someone from another planet wanting to warn us about something but people think she's insane and despite that she doesn't want to go back to where she's from? Or....it's an excellent trailer!

Ren Kennedy

Thanks so much ladies and yes Beka you got it right off the bat- she's got a message that is so insane that people prefer to believe she is and yes I'll keep you posted as we go forward - thanks so much for the kind encouragement!

Ren Kennedy

Mark no we didn't shoot on a RED but my director is so amazing we got some incredible performance from the 7D which we did shoot on - I promise to keep you posted as there is more available - thanks for the encouragement :)

Kirk Johnson

We're gearing up to launch a streaming web channel and are looking for quality entertainment to run on it, if you're interested in getting your work out there let me know. You can check out what we're doing at www.thefanfilmproject.com

Jason Ryan Coleman

trailer looks good. Makes me wanna see the rest.

Leon Laubscher

I like... show me more ;-)

Ren Kennedy

Thanks guys I certainly appreciate the kind support and encouragement - I've almost decided to make this series into a feature film with a possible series spin off as it gives me more creative control and may be easier to fund. I'll be sure to keep you all posted as I go forward with this and all my other projects- All the best to you and your projects too!

Heather Hale

Ren, we should talk. I'm in a special development program w/NBC. And I'd love to help you w/the feature, too! :-)

Ren Kennedy

Heather that's sounds wonderful - let's try to connect soon and we can talk!

Laura Koons

@ Heather and Ren... you go girls! There are so many of us who want to see this project (be it a series and/or feature) move onward and upward!

Bruno Coon

A paranoid schizophrenic whose delusions of the end of the world turn out to be True. Perhaps aliens are involved and perhaps some are helping her and some are trying to silence her. - Good premise. - For me the trailer tips it's hand too soon and then looks like it's trying to hide something that isn't there. If I am right, I would hold back the reveal for a while and concentrate on the horrors of dealing with the delusions - only hinting that there might be truth to them.

Ren Kennedy

Love it Bruno! Point taken and yes I agree with you cannot afford to tip my hand as it were - there is a 10 minute sizzle reel we made and this is just a minute long teaser to get it all started and generate some interest which it is starting to do - so thanks again for the kind encouragement and for your suggestions! Hopefully we get to bring this to the world sooner than later - all the best on your own projects :) Ren

Heather Hale

The hospital scenes, at least, remind me of Lars von Trier's "The Kingdom" 8-episode supernatural horror miniseries from Denmark which inspired Stephen King's "Kingdom Hospital" one season, one-hour drama series on ABC. The character and the situational challenge you play reminds me a bit of Brittany Murphy's character/challenge in "Don't Say A Word" (2001), where Michael Douglas tries to crack the code that's in her head - and figure out what the numbers are for) mixed with a little bit of "Girl Interrupted" (1999). I'm sure there's more to it than that - like what the secret is and it's impact on the world…is she an alien, does she bear foreboding premonitions that she can't cope with, etc. but a trailer SHOULD be all about the sizzle, not the steak. ;-) Good job! ;-)

Heather Hale

Ren, regarding a sizzle reel and the FX budget et al...you don't need a 10 minute sizzle reel for say the SyFy Channel (where I can help you take it, if you like). 1 minutes, 3 minutes, 7 - whatever - ALWAYS the shorter the better - I'd shoot for 2 - 3 minutes of your VERY BEST moments, lines, production value - brilliantly scripted. You don't want a single SECOND of tape that drops their interest or confidence or makes the development execs question their curiosity. Far better to leave them hanging and wanting to see more - via a script (the actual protectable asset you have to sell/set-up) than a low budget execution sample followed up with excuses. Don't give them a single reason to say no or question themselves. The point of the sizzle reel is for them to be able to envision the series in their mind's eye - at the scope and scale THEY would pull it off. I've been in competitions where I've advised (with the entire panel of judges agreeing with me) that the aspiring producer not show a single image or shot from the $40K sizzle they shot because what was on the page was so superior to what they got in the can. I don't think that's the case here, but I would slice and dice around any and all weaknesses - and only put your absolute best foot forward. Less is more. But then ;-) that's just my $.02! ;-)

Ren Kennedy

Wow I have a lot to consider not the least of which the hallucinations are only a small part of the show and thus I believe it would be better suited to a network like HBO as a possible audience grabber from such shows as United States of Tara and Enlightened - the same kind of flavour - I think the disconnect at the moment is that it looks very sci-fi but is in fact a much more human story that questions the convergence point between mental illness and revelations, angels, aliens and what to do with a gifting like prophecy (old hat in the bible, but somewhat troubling in this century) and how to go forward with this gift/ illness and how to use your powers for good :) I so appreciate your feedback and input and I will private message you to see if we might set up a Skype date or similar to hash it out - because if the SciFy channel seems a good home there are some tweaks that could be made - so grateful for your time and expertise - xo Ren

Valerie Michele Oliver

Very good! You got my attention, Ren. What I particularly like about your last comment is that you are exploring what may be a thin line between mental illness and the metaphysical world; how perhaps, we are not evolved enough to understand that in some instances, what we believe to be mental illness is actually a superior level of consciousness. And as you say, are people using it for light or shadow? Thanks for the opportunity to comment. Also, I'd trust Heather's comment about the sizzle reel.

Heather Hale

Valerie - I agree with you (and Ren) - that there is an intriguing thin veil between the two worlds of mental illness and metaphysics - and I think that's a fascinating arena to explore - perhaps one of the last great frontiers! ;-) Ren - It's your baby. You know it better than anyone. You also know your true goals and intentions. Focus groups (such as this as a mini exercise) are only a tiny piece of the puzzle - admittedly - strangers commenting on a minute or two sample. The take away is what are people "getting" off what you're putting out there? You're bound to have stragglers at either end of the bell curve - but if the bulk of respondents or your key prospects are derailed...imply pay attention to those details that distracted or misled them and how you might get back on track towards how you want it to come across. It's in the details. ;-) Don't forget NetFlix as a possible funder/distributor. They are taking great risks these days - and supporting their creators. Amazon Studios is doing some interesting things with crowd sourcing off storyboards - yours might be visual enough to attract a curious audience enough to cause a funding tipping point for them? For HBO...you're gonna need either a star or a Show Runner attachment or at least a Prod Co HBO's got a deal with taking it in with you. Do you have IMBPro? Or an agent or a manager? Check out Variety's Facts on Pacts: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5m2BSsqAoP2NF9DSFZOMnk1LWM/edit. Re: the Sci Fi element - if you've got aliens ;-) and/or angels - or supernatural elements - whether of a biblical nature or not - you at least cross genres with Sci Fi and Fantasy. That doesn't mean you have to be limited to those channels or audiences - look at Grimm and Once Upon a Time and the many vampire iterations...the audiences are there in mainstream media - and as you say, you have to be focused on the HUMAN story for ALL of them. SyFy Channel is just an off-the-cuff suggestion I know well - but they really do have to have a science element. I wouldn't focus on re-tweaking your show to fit any outlet - (one of many reasons being they change their mandates constantly! LOL! :-) Rather, I'd make sure you're really clear on presenting what the show IS - and find a Buyer/Distributor who will honor your vision - and help you get it there. ;-) Continued GOOD LUCK! ;-)

Beth Fox Heisinger

Hey Ren, congratulations on your web series! I had one thought, or concern to share -- the title. With the word "mania," the title basically says, "Little Miss Crazy" or "Little Miss Frenzy." Plus, with the phrase "little miss" it usually implies a child. (Unless your character really is a child from some other dimension or planet). Depending on what your series focuses on, or how the whole mystery plays out, you might consider changing the title. The current title is somewhat confusing when watching the trailer. Perhaps tapping more into the mysterious aspects of the series would be far more intriguing. I wish you the best! :)

Benjie Anderson

Nice work, Ren! What's the show about, indeed. Past? Present? Future? Looks quite good. Scifi lovers for sure. Drama, suspense... it looks like it might have several possibilities. Of course, only one can run w/ it... 'til you get into syndication, of course. Good luck!

Tony Angelo

I would love to network

Lars Bertil Ransheim

Nice and complexed story to come. I am curious about what follows... Good luck to you!

Antonia Jones-Hackley

Wow! I would love to see the finished product. Best of luck to you and please keep me in the loop.

Ren Kennedy

Thanks so much for your kind comments and encouragement- this show is really my baby and I almost feel ready to share her with the world- and I will keep you in the loop -absolutely! And what are you working on yourselves??

Mduduzi Ngomane

awesome!!!!!

I loved the trayler. You are very talented. The story is very catching. Congratulations

Ren Kennedy

June that was the most thoughtful and non-judging critique I have yet received. I so appreciate your recognition of the 'research' I did. And may i just say research is much easier to you as 'recall' than in any book or website- yes, enough said. The series hopes to enlighten those that can relate and to poke a little bit at the idea of what happens when a person believes in her heart everything is possible and how the Universe can indeed conspire to prove she is right until both audience and patient really can no longer differentiate between reality I use the term loosely and illusion - lovely comments are MOST welcome and I will continue to you updated as we go forward with LMM.

Laurie Ashbourne

Hi Ren - Congratulations on this, it's really nicely crafted. I review a lot of video submissions for Amazon and I can say the most important things I look for is does the video set up the story in a clear and engaging way with a high production value. This certainly has a high level of intrigue and good production value. I'd suggest just making the stakes and premise a little clearer. If she's suffering from manic bipolar issues -- can she really save the world? Or is it that she's pulling others into her mania? Great Job! I'd love to look at the longer version for you. Best of all, Laurie

Good stuff, Ren!

Thanks Jay - still working on figuring out where she might find her home but the story deserves to be told and eventually it will be! :)

WELL DONE

Christina Thompson

SYFY all the way or Beyond.. I love the lead actor, her face is amazing.

Christina Thompson

oh.. that is you.. your awesome..

Ren Kennedy

Yes that is me - and thank so much for saying that - I love this script so much and hope to bring this to LA later this year and start talking to the right people to get it made into a mini-series or a TV series - I'll keep you posted as things progress - thanks again for the kind encouragement ;)

Derrick Shaw

This is a television show? It seem more like a film. Is it on-going show such as Scandal or 24?

Ren Kennedy

At this point this is the trailer for a possible television series- it was written to be a tv series but of course it may be reconfigured as a feature film but at this point it remains a mini-series or television series :)

Ren Kennedy

Hey June - well my whole focus is on moving to LA in October so everything is on hold until I get somewhere I feel I can really collaborate with other professionals but I'll update you once I get set up there - remaining hopeful as all the feedback on LMM has been really positive just need to find the right team and the right network to get excited.

Taylor Albertson

Okay, first, network SyFy. What is it about? My first thought is aliens, then my brain started thinking spiritual, as in prophecy. If that is the track then let's add Hallmark Channel network. It's really hard to get a feel for what it's for. If you don't mind my saying that could turn off a lot of people as opposed to inspiring them to watch and find out more.

Ren Kennedy

Oh June I had no idea you were in SoCal I so will!! Really looking forward to being among so many fellow creatives and that crazy energy vortex that is Hollywood!

Ren Kennedy

Thanks for you feedback Taylor - I'll be posting a link to the short film version in a month or so and then hopefully I can ask people to give me comments when they have a larger piece to consider - however your guesses were spot on! Will keep you posted as we go forward and again thanks so much for taking the time to leave feedback :)

Victor Stapelberg

Quite different ..Would love to know what was at your back

Ren Kennedy

I'll add the short film in a couple of months and hopefully you will have a better idea of what is going on or it could remain unclear - thanks for the feedback Victor :)

Dana Bidlake

Seems to be mystery to me. Indeed well laid in and capturing. So where o where would one go to see more???

Ren Kennedy

Thanks Dana - I'll be posting the whole short in a few weeks - just waiting to hear back from some festivals and don't want to jump the gun - but thanks for your interest and I'll be sure to keep you posted about updates and 'more' :)

Dana Bidlake

Why stop in the USA Mylene when you have the digital world at your finger tips? And much of business is falling into world networking.. What fun what fun....

Dana Bidlake

I think as long as you have a steady access to a computer and online abilities. You could go far by starting business from home and working your way up. I would start by copy writing your name in a business, your own name. And sell your self to the world as an actress. Then from a digital world, you could be any where in the world and not so far from the stars.....

Dana Bidlake

Well you know dreams are created to become real. And adventure is simply a step foreword. Me I want to be a part of the whole world around. You can do any thing desirable with in reason in today's world. Should you have the means and will power... Tell ya what should the day I make it big. But to say this first I am a happy family man all set up just looking for friends around the world to make my dreams come true as well.

Dana Bidlake

I would help as a friend....

Leigh Stanton

I'm intrigued. She's a cyborg who thinks she is a real person and her quest leads her to find out that she's not real? However, she finds out she was designed as a special cyborg with remarkable powers to save the world? Sci-Fi?

Mark Ratering

When I was a kid there was a great show called "Outer Limits" that was one of their story lines...

Ren Kennedy

Oh Leigh your imagination is wonderful!! And thank you for taking the time to give me your feedback and insight - as we are still pitching this I will keep mum about what's actually going on but I love your take :)

Roxanne Ebrahimi

I would say the genre is sci-fi thrilla :)

Ed Vela

Audio a little messed up in the first :15 sec. or so. Leading lady is way too old to attract a younger audience, not sure where this is going, but the protagonist needs to be able to pull off 30-something, and the main lady in this video can barely pull off 40-something. Nice little tease, but doesn't tell me enough ABOUT the plot of the series/film to draw me in or make me want to see more. You counted on some nice production values to hook folks and I don't think it's going to that. It looks like you worked hard on this trailer from a production value POV, but the lead is miscast and give us more story so that we can KNOW what it's all about.

Ren Kennedy

Thanks so much for your input- it's really valuable - I'm excited to start showing the script and the 9 minute sizzle reel we created when I make my move to LA in October- The protagonist is going to be in her 40s however and isn't intended for younger audiences, and as for casting I'll leave that to the people who specialize in that field - all the best with your own projects and thanks again for taking the time to review and critique - it means a lot :)

J Tom Field

Not going back to read the 151 comments I'll say that it's very much scify fx material. Of course casting will be up to whoever produces it, but I think you did a fine job and I'm always amazed at how unobservant people can be, Ms. Kennedy. As a minute twenty teaser it does a fine job of asking questions and I imagine your sizzle real will do more to give us a better idea of the story. I look forward to seeing it. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Ren Kennedy

John that was lovely and I truly appreciate it - I will absolutely let all 152 of you know how the journey continues for Little Miss Mania once I make my move to LA next month but your support and kindness are really refreshing and I'm very grateful!!

"Never wear white after Labor Day" ;-)

Guy Bleyaert

Good concept !

Ren Kennedy

Thanks Guy - we are still working on the arc of the first season - but hoping to start pitching the concept in the next six months in LA.

Andrés Da Grava

good production! and good acting. congrats!

Ren Kennedy

Thanks Andres - still working on the overall concept - hoping I can find a place for it as a series or perhaps a feature - appreciate the encouragement :)

"Back to the Future"

Victor Stapelberg

Hi, my husband's name is Ren. Ah, if we could go back 20 years I'll do it all over again. Great feeling and stern acting. I'd sit back to see some more. If you need costume or design I have 4 credits and also in actiong. I come with many real accents from German, French, South African. Always wanted to play a "mean" role. I could relate to your story having written a book about looking back into an toddler to teenager abyss of war and abuse. But aside that your trailer is great and we live in North Burnaby :-) a stone throw from studios. The projects I acted in and for were the ten best shorts in 2013 and best trailer in 2016 and best new Canadian Director in 2017 both at TIFF. Wishing you luck and connection!
