Inner World
A thirty-four-year-old mother struggling with her kids decides to confront the traumatic memories of her violent father with an EMDR therapist to find the roots of her struggles. But as her desire to heal leads her deeper into the traumas, she makes discoveries about her youth that shakes her understanding of her past and puts her identity and motherhood in even more jeopardy. This script is a mix of The Florida Project and The Tale.
A HYPOTHETICAL CAT
Molly races to find her boyfriend who may have taken his own life or killed an innocent man over a million dollar theft and a shocking family secret. In the end, she’s confronted with the question, is not knowing the only thing that makes it alright? COMPARABLES: On the surface, LOCKE (starring Tom Hardy) and THE GUILTY (starring Jake Gyllenhaal) because they’re essentially one actor films and take place over multiple phone calls in a car. Thematically, ARRIVAL (about grief and time) and ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND (about memory and loss). PRACTICALITIES: Set mostly in a moving car with one main actor, at night, this can be an extremely lean and short production, leaving budget for a name actress, who will be won over by the unique concept and festival appeal.
