Syvia! This is so wonderful! Finally all the hard work pays off!
Congratulations, Sylvia! Way to start off a new month right.
Thank you all. I've settled down a bit since I wrote this post... seems my agent isn't too thrilled with some parts.... now the games begin. Meeting set up for tomorrow. Oh boy. Thank goodness she's there for me.
Congratulations, Sylvia! Tremendous validation!
Wow! Fantastic Sylvia!!!
How exciting!! Happy for you,
Good for you
HOLLA! That's great news!! =)
Great. Congrats! You will have to give us the play-by-play.
This is exactly how dreams come true. With one foot in front of the other kind of true! BRAVO! You must be over the moon. Tx for sharing!!! Go for GOLD!
Fantastic!!! Well done!
Thank you all for your kind words. Now the tricky part begins... the Negotiations (agent & producer) thank goodness I don't have to be there. :-))
Congratulations Sylvia! :)
Thank you Lance. My fingers are crossed.
WOWSERS! WTG! Keep us all informed on how things go.
Thank you Ross!!! Now the negotiations begin. Nothing is easy in this business. LOL.
Thanks Elaine... Wowsers is right. Not sure what WTG means... but thanks. LOL. Yes, when I know I'll let you guys know... negotiations started. My agent said I'm allowed to discuss anything creative with the Producer... but NOT the business part. No complaints here. My first Option Agreement and just so you know... I thought it was great until my Agent pointed out the holes. Yup every man for themselves. hahahaha.
WTG I think is Way To Go but I'm not usually down with the lingo so don't quote me ;-p
That sounds about right Ross... I'm semi brain dead today .... so couldn't figure out what the 'G' stood for. xoxo
Sounds good, Sylvia! Hoping everything works out and everyone gets to line the T's and dot the I's on the signature line :)
Big congrats! And don't worry about "the holes." It's worth a few first-timer concessions to get the movie made, right? Keep us posted!
Awesome let me just say my company also produces scores, ADR post work, and all things concerning music and audio. Lets work
Awesome news!! Enjoy the ride!!
Thank you all for your kind words. xoxo
Thank you Sarah and Tony. Wish you successes in your endeavors as well. :-))
Great job Sylvia! Such Great inspiration!
Job Well Done. Keep up the good work.
Wow, that's great news.
Thank you James and J'hon. Yes, I'm over the moon.
Thank you John. How's it going?
Wow, I love your story of staying true to your love. The restaurant looks wonderful. I'm sorry about the way you had to attain it and all the hardships along the way, but you were obviously not yet ready for you success in Hollywood. It now seems as though you are far more than ready to take it to the finish line. Congratulations on staying true to your love and your love coming back to you.
Thanks for you comments J'hon... yes, when life throws you a curve ball, you have no choice but to deal with it the best you can... just like the Protagonists in our stories... whether it's in this world or in a futuristic world or another planet... how we deal with it, is WHO WE/protagonists ARE.
Keep in touch everyone, I love to hear all your successes! I plan on updating on our movie.
Congrats, Sylvia! :) Share with us how did you get there?
Great news Sylvia. You are on the way.
Great news, Sylvia! Way to work!
That's awesome Sylvia!!!! So happy for you.
Hope it works out for you!
Very nice! Warmest congratulations.
Congrats Sylvia! Keep us posted on your progress!
That's awesome. This is what we all filmmakers dream about. congrats.
Thank you all... but guess what?... my Option Agreement will have to be postponed for 3 weeks. I've been invited to the Bahamas International Residency Program Dec 1-4 on the gorgeous island of Eleuthera to attend and workshop the same script that's being negotiated at this time. Holy Moly, when it rains it pours. I really really want to go. I placed as a quarter-finalist... they were announcing 6 winners to attend... and by inviting 6 more by 'invitation only' to attend I didn't think I stood a chance in hell... hundred of applicants I'm sure.... the other day I received the 'invite' by email. I'm over the moon. This year's mentors include: Vince Gerardis: Producer (HBO’s Games Of Thrones) Dan Guando: Weinstein Co. Executive Vice President of Acquisitions, Production & Development Elizabeth Hunter: Producer and Writer of such hit movies and TV shows as Jumping the Broom, Beauty Shop, Charmed and ER. Taylor Benzie: Literary Manager at Kaplan/Perrone Sean Covel: Film Producer (Napoleon Dynamite, Beneath, Cafe) Cameron Cubbison: co-founder of ScreenCraft, studio-trained development executive Matthew Helderman: CEO and co-founder at Buffalo 8 Productions and Bondit And, one more 'surprise' mentor to be announced. So what do you think folks? I feel it's an opportunity of a lifetime and I believe I should take it. I also hope the Producer that's negotiating with my agent at the moment will understand and can wait one month to continue. Yes? No? Best always, -Sylvia
Sounds like a blast, Sylvia!
Congratulations! Have fun! He will understand. Quick question. I recently started shopping my script. Can I sign as many option agreements thrown my way and how would you suggest I go about getting a name actor attached to the script? Thanks in advance.
Thanks Howard. I don't know the answer to that question. I prefer to stick with the creative side and my agent takes care of the business side. What I do know is make sure your script is well told, get coverage and/or consulting with executives... have your Logline and Synopsis ready, etc. Pitch through Joey Tuccio / Happy Writers. You can post your logline/synopsis on your wall here. It took me a while to finally get mine paid attention to. Ha! I thought mine was done after a couple of drafts. But no way Jose... without feedback you really don't see the forest for the trees.
You've got to run with it. All the best.
Thank you J'hon.
Wow Sylvia! Congratulations is really in order! Yay! You must be so excited!
Thank you so much,Tina. YES I'm over the moon with excitement.
Amazing!!! Congratulations, Sylvia, this is huge! Good luck with the next stage!
Thank you Emma, Marli, Jeanette, Mel and Audrey. I went shopping yesterday... what was I thinking? No hot weather clothes to be found... tons of winter stuff... coats, boots, sweaters. Guess I'll have to make do with what I have. :-))
